While Friars Bay is easily accessible by land, we highly recommend arriving by boat to truly appreciate its unique character. Be sure to stop for lunch at the iconic Friars Bay Beach Cafe (https://share.google/dmuGJPiRUo2axIZiW) – a laid-back beachside spot known for its warm hospitality and delicious local fare.
But what makes Friars Bay a favorite anchorage for us is its exceptional protection. It is the most sheltered bay from both wind and swell on this side of the island, offering a calm and comfortable holding ground even when conditions pick up elsewhere. For added privacy, we like to anchor a little farther from the beach, away from the busiest swimming areas.
The shoreline itself is a treat: rugged and beautiful, dotted with tall cacti, and if you look closely into the trees, you’ll often spot iguanas basking in the sun. The water is calm and clear, making it absolutely perfect for a leisurely swim. Whether you come for the food, the nature, or the tranquil anchorage, Friars Bay delivers on all fronts.
