EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ANSE DE GRANDE SALINE
ABOUT
This beach is located on the South side of the island, and offers a stunning long white stretch of white sand beach, surrounded by turquoise waters and lush greenery.
WHAT TO DO
This beach is not for crowd enthusiasts or restaurant goers – on the contrary, this beach is for those looking to enjoy a calm and serene setting.
WALKING BEACH
Aside from the initial short hike to get to the beach, many like to walk up and down the secluded and untouched stretch of beauty. As it’s not an actively busy beach, a nice stroll fits in perfect with its setting.
SNORKELING
Snorkeling is nice during calmer days, and one can find some sealife by the emerged rock just off the middle of the beach.
DINING
There are no restaurants or bars on this beach, and shade is also very minimal, so one should prepare well for both shade and dining/picnic options.
If you are traveling by boat, this is a perfect anchorage (on a calm day with NE winds) for lunch.
HOW TO GET THERE
Although nothing in St Barth is far from each other, this beach is located close to Gustavia, making this about a 15 min venture from the port.
CAR OR SCOOTER
A short drive by car or scooter brings you to a final small walk (uphill) after which you are welcomed by a stunning panoramic view of this picturesque spot.
For those who don’t have a car, hitchhiking is pretty common in St Barth and you will be likely to find a ride across or at least part of the way.
SALT POND
To get to the beach, you will drive past ‘Les Salines’, the great salt pond from which St Barth locals used to harvest their sea salt.
BOATÂ
This beach is a great spot for boaters, with plenty white sand to anchor on. With its south facing location, we do recommend this beach when the wind direction is coming further from the North-East, as during South-Eastern breeze can bring some uncomfortable swell for anchoring.
