Onboard our boats
What is a luxury boat charter?
A luxury boat charter is a charter that answers all your specific needs, with a Captain and crew attentive to each detail and delivering a 5-star experience.
The boats are perfectly maintained, cozy, and equipped so you won’t miss anything. Of course, each cabin has AC and a fan for a comfortable night.
A luxury boat charter also offers a great culinary experience with a knowledgeable and creative cook who uses fresh and local products.
Finally, the itinerary will be thoughtfully planned to best answer your wishes, whether you want to relax, snorkel, explore hidden gems, or unwind in secluded areas…
What are the differences between private and group charters?
A private charter is when you rent the full boat for only yourself and your loved ones. You won’t share the boat with another group you don’t know.
A group charter is when you only pay for your individual spot and share the boat with other people you don’t know for the day.
The maximum capacity of the group day charter at Pyratz is 10 guests. We like to keep the group small so you can still enjoy intimacy, comfort, and a 5-star service on board.
What types of boats are available for charter with Pyratz Gourmet Sailing?
We currently offer 2 motor catamarans and 1 sailing catamaran, all 45 feet.
Are pets allowed on the boat?
Pets can be allowed on the boat.
The decision will be taken on a case-by-case basis, according to the size of the pet, age, and behavior.
We love animals, we just want to make sure the boat won’t be damaged by a pet 🙂
What should I bring with me on a day charter?
All boats are fully equipped and charters are all-inclusive. We do ask for guests to bring along the following:
- towel
- sun protective gear such as sunglasses, UV shirt, and hat
- swimwear,
- ID or passport
Are there any environmentally sustainable practices implemented on your charters?
Yes! Some of them are
- Reef-friendly (not safe) sunscreen
- No single-use crockery and tableware: we only use reusable tableware.
- Reusable decorations for celebrations
- Solar panels onboard for the powering of onboard lighting and low-consumption appliances.
- Engine: We run our boats with low-consumption engines
Are there any restrictions on filming or photography during the charter for commercial purposes?
There is no specific restriction on filming or photography during the charter for commercial purposes. However, Pyratz Gourmet Sailing will need to be aware and approve first.
Can I choose a specific playlist or arrange for live musicians to perform onboard?
We have speakers all around the boat and guests can connect their phones to the speakers by Bluetooth. No internet connection is needed.
The crew can also play any required songs by the guests, using Apple Music and Spotify.
Finally, we offer the possibility to book a live music performance on board: guitarist, singer, harpist…
Can I extend a day charter into an overnight stay if desired?
We will need to know prior to departure if you want to book an overnight trip to make sure we are ready for it and stock the boat accordingly.
Can I see wildlife while on a luxury boat charter in the Caribbean?
We can’t guarantee to see specific wildlife on a luxury boat charter with Pyratz, however, the Caribbean is home to a lot of species, and turtles, stingrays, barracudas, and many different types of fishes can often be seen around St Martin, Anguilla and St Barths.
Who will be our captain and crew during the charter?
Depending on what boat you are sailing on, two of our permanent crew (captain & host) will be onboard with you for the day. For larger groups, we sometimes add an additional 3rd crew member.
Can I engage in watersports activities like kite surfing or windsurfing during the charter?
During your private charter with Pyratz, we can accommodate any of your water sports wishes: sea bobs, e-foil, kite surfing, windsurfing, tubing, jet ski…
We will adapt the itinerary according to the water sports you added to your Pyratz experience.
How do you ensure privacy and security for high-profile guests?
Our teams are trained to be discreet and ensure complete privacy for everyone onboard.
Is there specialized equipment available for underwater photography during snorkeling trips?
We have a GoPro that you can rent for your boat charter with Pyratz.
Is there Wi-Fi onboard?
Our boats are not equipped with Wi-Fi, but our sailing catamaran Amari has internet access using a SpaceX Starlink router.
What amenities are included on a luxury boat charter with Pyratz?
We offer a fully equipped boat with a variety of amenities such as Bluetooth speakers, showers, and a guest cabin, as well as onboard toys such as kayaks, paddle boards, and more.

Safety Onboard
What safety measures are in place on Pyratz charters?
- Fully trained crew for First Aid
- All our crew receive yearly training from a qualified trainer specialized in maritime First Aid practices.
- Communication equipment onboard such as VHF and phone.
- First aid kit in compliance with maritime standards.
- Onboard life raft and all other required emergency equipment such as flares, fire extinguishers, and others.
- Onboard emergency procedures printed and periodically practiced.
Are life jackets and safety equipment provided on Pyratz boats?
Of course. All the Pyratz boats are equipped with Sint Maarten’s mandatory safety equipment: life jackets, life rafts, fire extinguishers, EPIRB, flares, etc.
What specific training and certifications do your captains and crew have?
Our crew and Captains have maritime qualifications which are in line with the requirements of our local regulations.
All certifications are globally recognized and include all necessary modules such as First Aid, Fire Fighting, navigation, and more.
Our captains have captain licenses such as Yacht Master Offshore or equivalent and their STCW ’95 or ’10. Each of our crew members has their STCW ’95 or ’10 and an additional small powerboat license.
How does Pyratz handle medical emergencies during a charter?
Our teams are trained to perform first aid during our charter. All boats in our fleet are equipped with a VHF radio to ask for additional assistance.
Destinations & Itineraries
What destinations can I visit with your luxury boat charters in the Caribbean?
With a luxury boat charter in the Caribbean, you can visit many places. Pyratz Gourmet Sailing specializes in luxury boat charters around the Caribbean islands of St Martin, Sint Maarten, Anguilla, and Saint Barthelemy.
These 3 main islands all have hidden gems accessible only by boat, including Fourche Island, Scrub Island, Tintamarre Island, Dog Island, etc.
Can I customize the itinerary of my luxury boat charter?
We really want this to be YOUR DAY and therefore we do not have a specific itinerary. We do have our favorite spots, but we always tailor our charter to the wishes of our guests.
So, if you have any special preferences, please let us know. Otherwise, you can discuss the itinerary of the day with your Captain during his briefing prior to departure.
Can the charter itinerary include visits to less known or secluded spots in SXM, Anguilla, or St. Barths?
During day charters, the itineraries are more limited and the places visited are the same for most of all the boat charter companies.
However, when opting for overnight boat charters, there are multitudes of options to discover less known and secluded spots in SXM, Anguilla, and St. Barths.
Children and People with Mobility Issues
What are the policies and facilities for infants or toddlers on board?
All infants or toddlers are welcome onboard. There is no minimum age. We have floaties available for young kids, as well as life jackets in case of an emergency.
Toddlers will also love our floating mattress. For naps, the boat is not equipped with a baby bed, the parents can bring their own bed to install on the boat.
Are there special arrangements for non-swimmers or guests with mobility issues?
You can enjoy a Pyratz boat charter without needing the ability to swim. We offer lifejackets for non-swimmers as well as other floating devices such as noodles and a giant floating mattress where you can enjoy and relax. All the Pyratz boats are also equipped with a dinghy that allows us to bring our guests to the beach if they don’t want to swim.
Our crew can usually assist guests with mobility issues. The most complicated part might be to get back on the boat with the ladder, after jumping in the water, depending on the mobility issue.
Is there a minimum age for passengers on Pyratz boat charters?
We accept all ages for passengers on Pyratz boat charters. Our youngest passenger so far was 5 months old.
Weather & Seasons Related Questions
What are the best times of year to charter a luxury boat in SXM Island, Anguilla, and St. Barths?
For availability, weather, and sea state, we suggest between mid-January and mid-February as well as June, as these months are slightly less crowded and have the least rainy days on average.
What happens if the weather turns bad during our charter?
If the weather turns bad during the charter, the Captain will make sure to find a protected bay to spend the night. We can also offer the guests more activities on land if the sea conditions are not great or if it is raining.
If the weather conditions are not safe to stay at sea, we will shorten the trip and refund the part of the trip that we were not able to operate.
How does weather affect boat charter scheduling and destinations?
We can most of the time find protected beaches in case of high wind or high rain. However, the itinerary will be more limited and we might have to change it from what was initially agreed with the guests at booking.
If the weather is too bad with too heavy rain, wind, and swell, we will try to postpone the trip if possible or cancel it. Only the decision of the Captains will happen.
Can the itinerary be adjusted mid-charter based on our preferences or weather conditions?
We like to plan an itinerary with the guests to make sure we understand the wishes of each of our clients, however, we also love to keep space for unplanned adventure.

What unique experiences do you offer that differentiate your charter from others in the region?
Our unique selling point differentiating us from other boat charter businesses is that we offer an all-inclusive charter with gourmet dining and full onboard service. We aim to offer a super yacht standard onboard through our 4-course dining experience, signature cocktails, wine pairing, and top-notch service.
Additionally, we strive to bring a unique experience through discovery and adventure for those who wish to explore our islands.
Are there any packages or promotions currently available?

Are there any themed charters available, like honeymoon or celebration charters?
We have themed charters available and boat charters for special occasions.
Our crew makes sure to decorate the boat accordingly and have additional accessories to make the specific celebration even more special!

Yes, it would be possible to arrange for a marine biologist or a local historian to join the Pyratz charter for educational purposes.
Can the charter be part of a multi-day island-hopping itinerary that includes hotel stays?

We can accommodate surprise proposals or other special surprise events discreetly. Our team loves to plan the best surprise for your loved ones!
Is it possible to arrange a charter that aligns with local festivals or events?
Yes, we can customize a charter to align with local festivities or special events.
Is there an option for night sailing or stargazing during the charter?
One of our favorite moments on overnight charter is at night when watching the stars on the flybridge. Also, we always cruise back under the stars after our sunset dinner cruise that ends around 9pm.

Of course, we can accommodate any dietary restrictions.

Can we bring our own food and drinks on the charter?
Pyratz Gourmet Sailing specializes in offering high-end all-inclusive charters, offering our guests signature cocktails, a nice wine selection, and some of the most refined products available on the island, such as lobster etc.
We want you to come with nothing to worry about. However, if the guests would like to bring their own food and drinks, it is possible.
Do you offer any unique culinary experiences, like cooking classes or local food tastings, during the charter?
We can organize a cheese tasting and cheese workshop by a local expert during our charter. We also offer an “Aged Rum tasting” and a “Beers of the World tasting” add-ons.
What meal options are provided during a Pyratz boat charter?
We offer a different menu every year, carefully designed to bring our guests a combination of French and Caribbean flavors, including fresh local produce.

Prices, Bookings, Cancellations, Refunds
What is included in the price of a Pyratz boat charter?
Our charters are all-including and thus we only ask our guests to bring along any necessary swimwear and sun protective gear.
Add-ons listed on our website are not included in the base price and can be booked additionally.
How do I book a luxury boat charter with Pyratz Gourmet Sailing?
You can book a luxury boat charter with Pyrat Gourmet Sailing by contacting us at info@pyratzsxm.com. You can also visit our website and book online with our secured online booking system.
Can I book a luxury boat charter directly from my hotel or villa?
Yes, you can ask the concierge of your hotel or villa to reach out to Pyratz Gourmet Sailing to book your luxury boat charter with us. We are a well-known company in St Martin and it is common that the accommodations organize activities for their guests and call us directly.
How far in advance should I book my charter to ensure availability?
If you are flexible with your booking date, 10 days should be enough. However, if you want to book on a specific date, we would recommend at least 2 months in advance. Be careful with peak season (Dec 20-Jan 10) that books faster.
Is a deposit required to secure a boat charter?
We ask for a 20% deposit to secure a boat charter at booking.
What is the cancellation policy for a boat charter?
For a day charters, the cancellation policy is as follows:
- Booking fees & bank charges are not refundable.
- Refunds are based on the time of cancellation:
- > 14 days prior to the charter date: the full amount is refunded
- < 14 days prior to charter date: 80% is refunded
- < 7 days prior to charter: 50% is refunded
- < 36 hours prior to charter: Full amount charged, no refund
- In case of a cancellation due to bad weather, the trip will be rescheduled or fully refund as per the decision of the captain.
- Any amount due to be paid as per above, will be charged to the credit card on file.
For multi-nights charters, the cancellation policy is as follows:
- The fully charged amount is refunded when cancellations are made > 30 days prior to the trip (booking fee & bank charge won’t be refunded).
- 20% deposit is lost if cancellation is made < 30 days.
- 50% of the total charge is lost if cancellation is made < 14 days prior to departure.
- Full amount charged if cancellation was made < 7 days prior to departure.
- In case of a cancellation due to bad weather, the trip will be rescheduled or fully refunded as per the decision of the captain.
- Peak season (Dec 20 – Jan 10): No refund.
Other
Can I purchase gift certificates for a charter?
You can purchase gift certificates for any charter. You will have to email info@pyratzsxm.com to ask for a customized gift certificate.
A payment link will be sent for you to pay for the desired charter, and you will then receive your customized gift certificate.
Do you provide transport to and from the charter?
The transport to and from the charter is not included. However, we can help you organize it with one of our taxi partners.

Is there a loyalty program or repeat guest discount?
We love to offer a complimentary bottle of Champagne, or a complimentary aged rum tasting to our repeat guests.
We also always make sure to accommodate their specific requests with no additional fee.
