Caribbean Ginger Daiquiri Cocktail

Caribbean Ginger Daiquiri

If you tell me you are a rum enthusiast and love delicate simplicity, the first cocktail I will offer you is a Daiquiri! And this might surprise you…

Still many people too often associate the Daiquiri cocktail to a very sweet drink coming in a wide variety of flavors – the frozen strawberry Daiquiri being probably the most well-known Daiquiri to those outside the cocktail world – and the cause of spring break blackouts and hangovers.

But originally, the Daiquiri – born at the end of the 19th century in Cuba – is simply a harmonious combination of rum, sugar and lime juice. Does it remind you the ingredients of the famous Caribbean drink Ti’Punch

Choose the highest quality for each ingredient, find the perfect balance between sweetness and sourness and embrace this classic, sublime and damn tasty cocktail!

At Pyratz Gourmet Sailing, our Caribbean twist recipe combines the warmth and seawater touch of the rhum Trois Rivières Cuvée de l’Océan, and the fresh spice of our homemade ginger syrup.

Ingredients:

  • 5cl Trois Rivières Cuvée de l’Océan
  • 3cl fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 2cl ginger syrup
  • Pinch of sea salt (Optional)

Steps:

  1. Add all the ingredients into a shaker with ice, and shake until well-chilled
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe
  3. Garnish with a lime wheel

What makes Trois Rivières Cuvée de l’Océan so special?

Trois Rivières Cuvée de l’Océan is only made with the juice of sugarcanes raised on the waterfront of the sunny plot of Anse Trabaud located in the extreme south of Martinique. This results in a unique taste with hints of sea spray added to the classic agricole notes of grass and exotic fruits

How to make ginger syrup?

Store-bought ginger syrup is certainly the easiest way to go, but for a tiny bit of work and time, you can produce a homemade version that is guaranteed to be delicious and natural!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup sugar
  • 2 cup water
  • 1 cup ginger root peeled and sliced

Steps:

  • In a saucepan on medium heat, combine the sugar and the water.
  • Stir constantly until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Add the ginger and continue to heat while muddling the ginger for better flavors, bringing the syrup to a light boil. Keep it over a low heat for 1 hour.
  • Remove from the heat and allow to cool and steps in the covered pan for at least 2 hours.
  • Strain out the ginger and bottle.
